How browsing and replay work
Offsets identify positions within a partition. A range starts at the first offset you enter and stops before the end offset. A timestamp lookup starts at the first available record at or after that time. Kafka retention and compaction can leave gaps. For diagnosis, compare messages and headers with the Avro converter or Protobuf converter.
